| A Sunday School Class in 1946 or 47 at Bates Pentecostal Church. The two teachers were Ester Latta on the left and on the right is Irene Harper. Shirley Shelton is the little girl standing in the second row holding the Bible. Priscilla Shelton is the girl sitting behind the girl in about the center of the front row with pigtails. Others in the picture are from several families - Cope's, Page's, Miller's, Pepper's, Ritter's, Pottridge's, and Cagles's. Joe Brazil is the boy in the back row with overalls on. Joe Brazil was Ester (Brazil) Latta's nephew. The Laura and Clyde Brazil family lived across the road from the Pentecostal Church on what is now Bates Lane. |

Newton Webb (Sheltons Son-in-law), Shirley Shelton Webb, Bev Shelton and Billygene Shelton with Rev. Gene Shelton. Taken in about 1955 on the old Stamps place on the curve in the road at Kennyville. The photo was taken from the west porch looking toward the barn.
(NOTE BY JIM COOK: If this is where I think it is, when I was a small kid (about 4 or 5) my family was visiting with Uncle Ed and Aunt Roxie Stamps and I decided to explore the barn. There was a big work horse in the barn and upon a board in the stall I found a nest with an egg in it. I got the egg and went to the house to show my discovery of the "horses egg". Boy did I get a surprise, that egg was covered with lice and so was I by then. Aunt Roxie got out the galvanized metal bath tub, told me to get my clothes off and I got a good scrub down out on the porch. Of course I found out that it was just a chicken egg. |
